Secretaries of cooperative credit and marketing societies from Tiruchi and Karur were exposed to commodity trading during a two-day workshop organised by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development here.

The programme, which concluded on Wednesday, was aimed to sensitising officials of the cooperative societies, where godowns have been constructed with support under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund and accreditation of such godowns is underway under the Warehousing Development Regulatory Act (WDRA).

Participants were briefed on the evolution of commodity market, regulatory issues, the roles of MCX and Forward Market Commission and other issues relating to commodity trading.

Live demonstration on commodity trading was also held, according to a press release from S.Suresh Kumar, Assistant General Manager, NABARD, Tiruchi.
