Mark speed breakers

Recently a small stretch leading to the Srirangam bus stop was re-laid and widened. But many speed breakers have been erected without any markings. City buses race down these roads unmindful of the speed breakers.

Passengers, particularly those in the back seats, are subjected to a nightmarish experience. Authorities should ensure that number of speed breakers are reduced.

Dalmiapuram Gannesan,

There is no information on the regularisation of 16779/16780 Madurai–Tirupathi–Madurai Meenakshi bi-weekly express from the day one.

Currently it takes 15 to 16.5 hours to cover the distance of 667 km from Tiruchi to Katpadi with an average speed of 40kmph, which equals to the speed of a fast passenger. I request the railway to make it a daily train while increasing its speed. Besides, the train should be converted to a 20-coach train (2, 3AC, 10 SL, 6 GS, 2 SLR).

M. Sundarakumar,

Ramalinga nagar.

Last week my sister travelled by the Mysore express from Tiruchi to Bangalore. The lights and fans were not functioning in the extra coach (S-12). Despite representations to the railway authorities in all the major stations en-route, the problem was not addressed. Being a night express one could understand the plight of women, children and the elderly in the compartment.

J. Anantha Padmanabhan,

Chat messenger

I have been using BSNL SIM card in my cell phone for the last six years. Though I am not availing of chat messenger facility, it has been charged Rs 30 per month for over six months. When I spoke to the BSNL customer care centre to deactivate chat messenger facility, I was given a number 1503 for registering a complaint.

Accordingly a complaint was registered for deactivation. But till date, it has not been deactivated even after I made several requests. At last, I decided to switch over to some other network.

S. Ilamurugu,

Stray cattle

Stray cattle are roaming freely on the city roads, especially at Karumandapam, Periyamilaguparai, and Ponnagar. They pose threat to people during the night hours.

S. Kanagasundari,

Traffic rule violation

‘No parking' and ‘obey traffic rule' display boards are not honoured by vehicle users causing much hardship to others. The strict adherence to the traffic rules ensures free movement.

Padma Mahadevan,

Swimming pool

There is only one swimming pool run by the government at Anna stadium. The government should come forward to set up swimming pools at Mukkombu and Kallanai.
