The Construction Workers Struggle Front will take out rallies in the headquarters of all the districts in the state on November 16 to press its 14 point charter of demands. The Front is the umbrella organisation of various construction workers trade unions.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Front held here on Wednesday.

The proposed rally was to urge the government to do away with the rule of demanding village administrative officer's certificate for enrolling the construction workers as members of the welfare board; hiking the collection of cess from the construction houses to one per cent as per the Act; provision of Rs.3,000 per month as pension; the government should come forward to fix the price of the construction materials etc.

R.Periasamy, president of the Tamil Maanila Construction Workers' Union, presided over the meeting. M. Natarajan, president, CITU; K.Thangavel, its district secretary; K.Suresh, district secretary of the AITUC, S.Veerasamy, Tamilar Construction Workers and Unorganised Sector Workers Union, T. Manikkam, state president, Tamil Nadu Unorganised Sector Workers Welfare Association, and others spoke at the meeting.
