Construction work begins for sixth Samathuvapuram in Dharmapuri district

DHARMAPURI: The construction work for the sixth Samathuvapuram in Dharmapuri district began here on Wednesday.

Collector P. Amutha inaugurated the work in the presence of V. Mullaivendan, Morappur MLA, at Sundangipatti village in Harur Panchayat Union.

In her address, Ms. Amutha appealed to the contractors to finish construction the work within six months time stipulated by the authorities with quality. She said that the project was being implemented at a cost of Rs. 1.78 crore from the funds allotted for the year 2009-10.

The foundation for the project was laid by the Deputy Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin, on November 8 last year.

The Samathuvapuram would have all the basic amenities such as water supply to all the habitants through an over head tank with BT roads and street lights.

The other five Samathuvapurams situated in the district are Alamelupuram in Pappireddipatti Union, Periyampatti in Karimangalam Panchayat Union, Palayam in Nallampalli Union, Senguttai in Morappur Union and Paruvathanaalli in Pennagaram Union.

N. Saminathan, Project Officer, DRDA, former MLA Vedammal, Harur Panchayat Union Chairman, K. Anbazhagan among others participated.
