35 overhead tanks are being built in various parts of Tiruchi

TIRUCHI: Corporation Commissioner T.T. Balsamy, on Saturday, inspected the construction of drinking water overhead tanks sanctioned under the Rs.169-crore drinking water supply augmentation scheme.

Thirty-five overhead tanks were being built in various parts of Tiruchi under the scheme to ensure equitable supply of water to all parts of the city.

Mr.Balsamy inspected the progress of construction of overhead tanks at Anandham Nagar in ward 52 in K.Abishekapuram zone, at Rainbow Colony in ward 53 and Siva Nagar in ward 54. While the tank at Anandham Nagar will have a capacity of 12 lakh litres, the one at Rainbow Colony will be of six lakh litres capacity and the other at Siva Nagar will have a capacity of five lakh litres. Mr.Balsamy instructed the contractors to expedite the works.

City Engineer S.Raja Mohamed and other officials accompanied the Commissioner.
