NAMAKKAL: Collector G. Sundaramurthi inaugurated the construction of additional buildings in Government Hospital (GH) here recently.

A press release said the buildings would house emergency ward, operation theatres, X-ray unit, laboratories, blood bank, medicines store and other facilities. A sum of Rs. 63 lakh would be spent for the construction, the Collector said after performing the `bhoomi puja'.

Mr. Sundaramurthi also inaugurated the X-ray unit established at Paramathi Velur Government Hospital. The release said that people earlier went to Namakkal GH for taking X-ray. Following demands from the people, the district administration had established the unit at a cost of Rs. 2 lakh. He also declared open a new building constructed for Siddha medicine in the hospital. Joint Director of Health Dakshinamoorthi and senior officials were present.

Later, the Collector inaugurated new divisional office building constructed at a cost of Rs. 3 lakh for the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) in Keerambur. The following areas were brought under the control of the new office: Keerambur, Rasampalayam Konur, Thathipalayam, Kunjampalayam, Thindamangalam, Periyagoundampalayam, R.N. Palayam, Madagasampatti, R. Pudhupalayam and Thottipatti. About 4,000 electricity consumers in these areas would benefit, the release said. TNEB Superintendent Engineer Gopalakrishnan and senior officials were present.
