Four men, including a police constable, charged with snatching gold chains were arrested by Kovilpatti West police on Thursday. Besides, three four wheelers and two motor bikes were recovered from the gang, according to police sources.

Investigations revealed that the accused confessed to have snatched 39.5 sovereigns of gold chains. They were habitual offenders and seven cases had been filed in various stations over the last one year. Two cases were filed with the Kovilpatti police and equal number of cases filed with the Kovilpati East police. Police attached to Thiruvengadam, Ottapidaram and Nalattinputhur stations have registered a case.

The arrested were B. Kaverimani (31), Police Constable deputed in Kovilpatti West station and residing at Sundararajapuram at Rajapalayam, K. Venkatesh (27) of Sillangulam, Ottapidaram, K. Ganesan (28), Indira Nagar at Kayatar and S. Sudalaimani (31) of the same locality.
