: Highlighting the opportunities and challenges in logistics sector, Confederation of Indian Industry, Tuticorin, will organise its fourth edition of Conference of Logistics -2013 here on Thursday.

The programme was aimed at promoting Tuticorin as a logistics hub in southern region of Tamil Nadu, Gunasingh Chelladurai, Chairman, CII, Tuticorin, said while addressing the media here on Tuesday.

Resource persons would highlight the emerging trends and technology in the logistics sector and software applications in the logistics industry, which plays a predominant role in export and import trade. Stressing other modules of the programme, Mr. Chelladurai said the stakeholders and business entrepreneurs could get an exposure to subjects on safety and security for cargo in warehouse and in transit. Besides, emphasis would be laid on quality certification standards in the industry, cold storage operations, marine insurance, policy claims and procedures. Six eminent speakers were expected to address the conference.
