Tiruvannamalai: A State-level computer training-cum-seminar for all district sports officers from Tamil Nadu and their office staff under the Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan programme began here on Tuesday.

Inaugurating the two-day programme at Collectorate, District Collector M. Rajendran said that under scheme which was launched by the Centre for the Development of Sports in Villages, each beneficiary village would get Rs.1 lakh for development of sports infrastructure and each panchayat union, Rs.5 lakh for conducting sports meets for those below the age of 18. “National Informatics Centre has developed new software for Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan scheme. With the help of this software, people can register their names online for sports meets,” the Collector added.
