Commonwealth Academic Fellowship to VIT Professor

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, UK, has, in association with the Association of Commonwealth Universities, London, awarded the prestigious Commonwealth Academic Fellowship to R. Vijayaraghavan, Senior Professor and Assistant Director, Centre for Nanomaterials, School of Advanced Sciences (SAS), VIT University to pursue research in Oxford University.

According to a VIT release, the award is given to mid-career academicians to pursue research in universities in UK for a period of six months. A total of 150 fellowships were awarded every year to all Commonwealth countries. Dr. Vijayaraghavan will be working with P.P. Edwards, Head, Inorganic Chemistry, Oxford University, in the area of Transparent Conducting Oxides, which find applications in solar energy conversion devices.

Prof. Vijayaraghavan who got his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, has visited many European countries, Japan and USA to undertake advanced research. He has guided six Ph.D.s in VIT University, published more than 75 international publications and filed two US patents.
