TIRUCHI: With his rich experience of having represented the country in hockey in two Olympics and two World Cups, N. Mohammed Riaz certainly knows the value of hard work.
And in his address during the valediction of the annual sports day of Oxford Engineering College here recently, MR. Riaz highlighted the value of hard work. “It is possible to achieve success only by working hard,” he added.
The Arjuna awardee urged the students to use the college-level sports meets as a launch pad for future successes. “You have seen the recognition sports achievers get. I think it should serve as a motivation for the aspirants,” said the former Indian hockey captain.
Also speaking on the occasion, M. Subramaniam, Chairman, said that the college management has been encouraging students to take part in sports events conducted at different levels. Rama Prabha, Director of Physical Education, in her annual sports report highlighted the achievements of the students at various tournaments.
Mechanical Engineering department bagged the overall championship in the men’s section and Computer Science and Engineering department secured the honour in the women’s category.
Mr. Riaz gave away prizes to the winners. Nirmala Subramaniam, Member, College Governing Council, M. Janakiraman, Dean and Principal G. Dhanalakshmi commended the students for their efforts.
