Hoisting of tri-colour followed by police march past and cultural programmes by school children formed part of the Republic Day celebrations held at the District Collectorate here on Thursday.

Collector, Hanish Chabra unfurled the national flag. He presented the Chief Minister's medal to 31 policemen and honoured freedom fighters. Colourful cultural programmes were presented by students of 8 different educational institutions in the district. The Superintendent of Police, Kancheepuram Police District, S. Manoharan, District Revenue Officer, S.R. Sudharsan and others participated. Later, the Collector took part in a ‘grama sabha' meeting held at Selvazhimangalam village panchayat in Sriperumpudur block.

The Municipal Chairman, Mythili Thirunavukkarasu unfurled the national flag at the Kancheepuram Municipal office campus.

Tiruvallur

Collector, Ashish Chatterjee hoisted the tri-colour and presented the Chief Minister's medal to 25 policemen. Students from 6 schools presented programmes. The Superintendent of Police, Tiruvallur Police District, Vanitha, District Revenue Officer, S. Visagan and others participated.

Later participating in a ‘grama sabha' meeting held at Selai village panchayat in Tiruvallur Panchayat Union, Mr. Chatterjee assured that pattas would be issued in about 10-days to those who have put up their dwelling units in ‘natham poromboke' lands, according to a press release.
