Orders Highways Department officials to conduct a study

PERAMBALUR: The Collector, Anil Meshram, on Thursday inspected a number of sites in three villages in Sendurai block for ascertaining the works to be taken up for providing basic facilities there.

He interacted with a cross-section of villagers and inspected the nutritious noon-meal centres and houses that were damaged by the floods last year.

When the residents of Agaram Seehur explained the difficulty they experienced during monsoon and floods for want of a bridge from their village to Pazhaya Anganur, the Collector ordered the Highways Department officials to conduct a study and submit an estimate for a bridge across the Chinnaru.

Mr. Anil Meshram also advised the officials to provide cement road facility in Anganur village under the Sampoorna Gramin Rojgar Yojana scheme.

The village would get a health sub-centre, and drinking water supply would be augmented by including it in the Combined Drinking Water Supply scheme, the Collector said.

The Collector promised steps for construction of toilets and additional buildings at the Middle school in Anganur.

At Mullaiyur, the Collector inspected the houses damaged during the floods and torrential rains last year and said that steps would be taken for construction of group houses. He also said that 25 persons who were rendered homeless in a fire mishap recently, would get houses.

The state president of Dalit Panthers of India, Thol. Tirumavalavan, who accompanied the officials, requested the Collector to give priority in implementing the developmental works in these villages.

The District Revenue Officer, K. Baskaran, was among those who accompanied the Collector.
