The first District Consultative Committee meeting for 2011-2012 was held here on Thursday with the District Collector J. Uma Maheswari in the chair.
Reviewing the performance of the banks the Collector noted that the performance of banks under the Agriculture and MSME sectors was good but other priority sector needed more patronage.
Ms.Uma Maheswari pointed out that under the Swarna Jayanthi Gram Swarozgar Yojana, the target of extending revolving fund to 910 SHGs has been achieved and subsidy to the tune of Rs. 5.46 crore has been released.
In respect of economic activity 91 loans have been disbursed amounting to Rs.7.20 crore. Under the SHG credit linkage programme a sum of Rs.57 crore has been disbursed against the target of Rs.55 crore.
Under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme a Margin Money target of Rs.1.12 crore had been allotted to the district and achievement was Rs. 1.13 crore. But the banks were yet to receive the subsidy amount.
Under the SJSRY the subsidy of Rs. 9.44 lakh has been allocated to the four Municipalities – Karur, Inam Karur, Thanthoni and Kulithalai. Entire subsidy has been utilised and loans have been disbursed, she pointed out.
A total of 31,276 kisan credit cards have been issued to the tune of Rs.139.44 crore against the target of 30,000 cards, Dr.Uma Maheswari observed.
C.Anbu, Chief Regional Manager, Indian Overseas Bank, Dindigul Region, V.L.Satheesh Kumar, Lead District Officer, Reserve Bank of India, A.Parthiban, District Development Manager, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development(NABARD), S.Rajalakshmi, Project Officer, Mahalir Thittam, K.Chandrasekaran, Lead District Manager, bankers and government officials were present at the meeting .
