District Election Officer and Collector, Tiruvallur, T. P.Rajesh has said that stern action will be initiated against those indulging in clandestine distribution of household articles to electors in Tiruvallur district.

The DEO has claimed that the District Election Wing has received tip-offs that certain political party cadre and aides of contesting candidates were distributing ‘tokens' to the families, which in turn could be exchanged for household electronic goods. Mr. Rajesh called upon the general public to lodge complaints at the 24-hour complaint cell – 27665583 / 84 / 85 or toll free number : 1800 425 7011.

Voter slip distribution

While the exercise of voter slip distribution with respect to Gummidipoondi, Tiruvallur and Madhavaram segments was carried out on March 30 and 31, distribution of voter slips for Ponneri and Tiruttani constituencies commenced on March 31 and would be completed on April 1. Booth-level officers would distribute voter slips for Poonamallee, Avadi and Tiruvottiyur segments on April 2 and April 3 and for Madhuravoyal and Ambattur constituencies on April 3 and April 4, the Tiruvallur Collector added.
