V. Kalaiarasi assumed charge as the Collector here on Monday. She succeeds B. Maheswari, who has been transferred and posted as Regional Deputy Commissioner of Chennai Corporation.
Ms. Kalaiarasi had served in positions including Special District Revenue Officer, Tamil Nadu Road Sector Project; District Revenue Officer, Salem, and District Revenue Officer, (Land Acquisition NH 68).
Till recently, Ms. Kalaiarasi was the Regional Deputy Commissioner of Chennai Corporation.
Later, she said that the district administration would further strive hard for implementing people-welfare programmes chalked out by the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. Addressing people's grievances and provision of amenities would be her focus.
“I shall lead the district towards the path of progress and development,” she said.
At the weekly grievances day meeting, the Collector received a total of 354 petitions pertaining to the demand for old age pension, job opportunities and house site patta.
She advised the officials to take immediate action on the petitions.
K. Nagarajan, District Revenue Officer; A. Azhagirisamy, Assistant Commissioner of Excise and G. Sasikala, Special Deputy Collector (Self Sufficiency Scheme) were present.
