Receives 260 petitions, clears 203

ARIYALUR: Collector T.Abraham on Wednesday instructed the officials to take immediate action on the petitions received from the people at the grievances day meetings and help the people by providing the required information.

Presiding over the special mass contact programme at Ilandaikoodam panchayat in Tirumanur block in the district, the Collector said that he had received 260 petitions at the meeting on Wednesday of which immediate action was taken on 203 petitions.

Old age pension for 36 sanctioned

The Collector distributed Government welfare assistance of Rs.5.67 lakh to 203 beneficiaries and sanctioned old age pension to 36 persons and widow pension to 45 at the meeting.

He appealed to the people to meet the department officials directly and get information regarding various welfare assistance being provided to poor and weaker sections of the society.

District Revenue Officer R.Pichai, DRDA project officer Venkatachalam, Special Deputy Collector Chandrasekaran and others attended the meeting.
