IT services major Cognizant made a record number of 1,820 job offers to the undergraduate and postgraduate students of VIT University, Vellore, at its campus selection here on Wednesday.
“Cognizant's 1820 job offers made at VIT University this morning are the highest that any company has made in a single campus across the country”, said G. Viswanathan, Chancellor of VIT in a release.
He said that the VIT has been consistently topping the campus recruitments at slot one from a single campus across the country for the last five years.
A total of 789 students of the 2008 batch, 1075 students of the 2009 batch and 803 students of the 2010 batch had been selected by the Tata Consultancy Services. While Cognizant selected 1643 students of the 2011 batch, it has today selected 1820 students of the 2012 passing out batch
The campus placement season for the 2012 batch started at VIT by the end of July 2011 with dream companies (core and software) visiting the University for placements.
More than 40 companies have visited VIT under `dream status'. Some of the reputed dream companies include Amazon, EBay, Schneider, Thoughtworks, Honda, Maruti, Tata Motors, Google, Netapp, Vmware, Deloitte, National Instruments, Michelin, McKinsey and Ashok Leyland.
Two hundred and one students got dream offers with salaries ranging from Rs.4.5 lakhs per annum to Rs.10.5 lakhs per annum.
Flipkart, a software company with a package of Rs.12.5 lakhs per annum would be visiting the university this week.
Earlier, Deloitte recruited 52 of the students with a CTC (cost to company) of Rs.4.63 lakhs per annum, which is the highest number of campus recruitments done by Deloitte from a single campus across the world, according to the VIT release.
