A five-and-half-feet-long spectacled cobra (Naja naja), which strayed into a textile processing unit at Manickampalayam here, was caught on Tuesday.
Employees of the unit found the snake inside a tank that was used to store the effluents and alerted the wild life activists at Green Cross India, a non-governmental organisation here.
A team of activists from the organisation rushed to the spot and rescued the snake after struggling for a short period. Members of the organisation had also caught two more cobras, two Russell's viper and two rat snakes in different parts of the district.
All the snakes would be handed over to the forest department on Thursday, activists said.
