Students taken ill

A waterborne outbreak of acute diarrhoeal disease was being suspected in the nursing students’ hostel of Coimbatore Medical College Hospital after several students complained of fever and vomiting. According to CMCH sources, 21 nursing students were admitted to the hospital on Friday night of whom 13 were discharged by Saturday afternoon. Another four students took ill on Saturday and were admitted to the hospital. The blood and water samples have been sent for testing and results were expected by Monday.

Corporation Health officials conducted a de-chlorination of water tanks and cleaning operations inside the hostel.
