Assures employment opportunities to 32 lakh persons

PALANI: Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has announced that employment opportunities to 32 lakh persons, including youth and women, would be created in the State, the if All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam was elected to power.

Kick-starting her second and final leg of her election campaign in Dindigul district at Oddanchatram on Thursday evening, she said new avenues in Information Technology would be opened to provide jobs to five lakh youths.

To meet a growing demand of micronutrients, bio-fertilizers and organic-pesticides, a special scheme would be formulated to manufacture these products in Tamil Nadu, and two lakh jobs would be created for making these products.

With an estimated demand of 30,000 tonnes of these organic products, about 25 lakh youths and women members of self-help groups with private participation would be engaged for marketing them. On the whole, these special schemes would generate 32 lakh jobs, she said.

She did not forget to list out her achievements such as free cycle and notebooks to school students, farmer protection scheme etc while campaigning for K.P. Nallasamy, candidate for Oddanchatram constituency and S. Prema, candidate for Palani constituency.

Thousands of people had gathered at Oddanchatram bus stand and Palani central bus stand.

Women members of SHGs congregated in large numbers at many places. Ms. Jayalalithaa concluded her seven-day campaign in Dindigul and Theni districts and proceeded to Udumalpet to start her election campaign in Coimbatore district.
