Clean roads

print   ·   T  T

In Ramanathapuram town, Raja Street is an important location. Huge amount of waste and garbage are dumped on the southern shoulder of the road in front of a private hospital making the whole area dirty. There are three ATMs on the northern end and a shopping complex.

I appeal to the municipal authorities to remove the waste immediately to make the area neat and clean in the best interest of the residents of the area. The civic body should take extra care in maintaining the town clean by removing waste on either side of all roads besides removing the sand that gets accumulated on road shoulders as this sand poses serious threat to two-wheeler riders.

Extend train service

The Southern Railway has proposed to extend the Mannargudi-Trichy train upto Manamadurai from April. It starts at 6.30 a.m. at Mannargudi and reaches Manamadurai at 1.20 p.m. This train departs at 1.45 p.m. from Manamadurai. Now this train is running with four coaches only. There is an appeal to raise the number of coaches up to 8 to minimise the extra rush in the train. There is no connecting train between the Thanjavur- Rameswaram stretch. I request the authorities to extend the Mannargudi train up to Rameswaram to help the pilgrims.

V. Rajendran,

Follow the model

The ancient “Srivilliputtur Sri Andal Temple” is considered as the most important among the 108 Vaishnavite Divyadesams. Its tower is the emblem of our State government, “No tower, no power” is the ethical and aesthetic saying.

Now the renovation work is being undertaken by the efforts of the temple trust board and the H.R. & CE department of our state in a large scale.

The trust president, its members, priests, officials and devotees are collectively doing this work in an appreciable manner.

The four Mada streets, four car streets and the front yard of the temple have been newly laid strongly with stones in an attractive manner.

The tower and all the inner and outer walls of the temple and ‘vimanams' are being renovated and repainted in an attractive and a colourful manner.

Besides this, all are doing this job with utmost concentration, devotion, dedication, determination, total involvement with divinity and strength of will. Now this temple is being administered and maintained as a role model for all temples.

Beautification of the temple always leads to the participation of all kinds of devotees.

Hence it is requested of all to keep all temples and their premises neat and clean by following the example of ‘Srivilliputtur Sri Andal Temple'.
