Deputy Commissioner of Police, St. Thomas Mount District, A. Arun, in response to the news item, `Road blocked for construction work' (Page 4, Chennai city, March 1), writes: Soon after a complaint about road block was received from a reporter from The Hindu , the Inspector of Police from Madipakkam station was informed. He immediately reached the spot and filed a petty case against the private contractor, who had blocked the road for construction and it was cleared immediately. It is not correct that no action was taken against the contractor. The incident took place in Raghava Nagar and not in Ganga Nagar in Moovarasampet. Only the reporter called me over the phone. No one from the public approached me or the Madipakkam police station for action. Readers' Editor.
