Sathyanarayanan Srinivasan and R. Santhosh Kumar , third-year students of Information Technology at Sri Venkataswara College of Engineering (SVCE) , Sriperumbudur, created a Guinness World Record recently at the Windows8  App Fest.

The event was held at the Karnataka Trade Promotion Organisation (KTPO) in Bangalore. Nearly 2567 app developers gathered and submitted 1500 applications. Out of this, 50 applications were shortlisted for certified use.  

Several entrepreneurs, students, software professionals participated in the event that was aimed at setting a Guinness World Record for ‘Most Participants in a Software Development Marathon at one location.’ The participants coded for 18 hours continuously and 1500 applications were developed for the Windows8 Platform.  

The app developed by Sathyanarayanan and Santhosh was also accepted by Microsoft.

Dr. A. C. Muthiah, chairman, Governing Council of the college, said it was a proud moment for the college and that the teachers had taken serious steps to encourage students to come up with innovative project ideas.
