Members of Centre of Indian Trade Unions organised a ‘gate meeting' in front of the Ranithottam depot of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (Tirunelveli division) here on Saturday to mobilise support from employees for the trade union elections scheduled for November 25.

More than 250 employees attended the meeting which was led by Lakshmanan, district general secretary. A. Soundararajan, general secretary-State, said that the government must increase wages of transport corporation employees on a par with the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board. New laws and amendments must be enacted to ensure the welfare of members attached to various trade unions.
