CHENNAI: The Narcotics Intelligence Bureau (NIB) arrested a man in Sowcarpet in the city and seized 1,920 pieces of chocolates stuffed with "ganja" and 600 packets of ganja weighing 10 kilograms.
The NIB said that following reports that some school and college students purchased chocolates stuffed with ganja or other narcotics, a special team was formed.
Pretending to be customers, the team tracked down the sellers and arrested Om Prakash (53) of Sowcarpet. The team raided his shop and seized 1,920 pieces of chocolate stuffed with ganja and 600 packets of ganja, a press note said.
After registering a case under NIB Act, the accused was remanded to custody.
A senior NIB officer told The Hindu that the narcotic chocolates provided a high of four to six hours when consumed.
Four grams of ganja mixed in a chocolate cost Rs 15, and a teenager who chewing a chocolate in public would not attract any attention, the officer further added.
