ERODE: Students, well you should be tired after slogging it out for the just-concluded quarterly examinations. How about some entertainment now? And, quality one at that.
Erode Thiraippada Iyakkam, a subsidiary of Cinema Club of Coimbatore, has organised a two-day children’s film festival ‘to create awareness of world classic movies among the public, especially students,’ says a Iyakkam volunteer.
At the inauguration function on Saturday, Collector T. Udhayachandran said such festivals and the films screened therein had a soothing effect on people, affected by popular cinema.
Appreciating the efforts of the Iyakkam members, he said such films should be taken to villages, schools and colleges and in doing so the district administration would provide all possible help.
The Collector then added that he contemplated setting up film appreciation clubs in colleges and in that regard would talk to head of institutions.
The films to be screened include ‘Kutty’ in Tamil, ‘Shwaas’ in Marati and ‘Immanuel’s Gift’ in English, ‘Colour of Paradise’ in Persian (Iranian film), and ‘The Way Home’.
The festival is being held at Hotel Club Melange at 9 a.m. Further details can be had at 0424-4271816.
