MADURAI: In a shocking incident, a two-year-old boy was buried alive by his parents in their home in Virudhunagar district on Tuesday night and the couple fled from the scene.Police investigations on Wednesday revealed that the couple – Chandrasekar, a driver, and Isakki Ammal of Indira Colony, Vedanayagapuram had differences of opinion. Wordy altercations between them were common, according to some of the neighbours.

On Tuesday evening also, there was a heated exchange of words between them. At around 10.30 p.m., they had buried Pratap and fled the home. Suspecting trouble, neighbours informed the relatives of the couple about the incident. As a portion on the floor was covered with mud, when dug up, they spotted Pratap buried alive.

On information, Thalavaipuram police, accompanied by revenue officials, arrived at the spot and exhumed the body. Thalavaipuram police have registered a case of boy missing.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (Madurai Range) P. Balasubramanian said that a team has been formed to secure the couple. Meanwhile, a police officer said that the mobile number of Chandrasekar is being located and soon he would be secured.
