SALEM: The Chettinad cuisine, among other South Indian cuisines, enjoys a special place among food lovers.
The Hotel Cenneys Gateways has brought the flavour of Chettinad to the Salem city recently.
The three-day food festival presented a variety of spicy and mouth-watering Chettinad traditional dishes.
The sumptuous buffet began with welcome drinks Panagam (ginger and jaggery based preparation) and Nannari juice.
The cuisine catered to both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.
The non-vegetarian side of the table had the luscious Chettinad Kozhi Biryani, Poondu Meen Kuzhambu, Meen Varuval, Karuvattu Thokku, Kozhi Milagu Curry, Pallatur Mutton Masala and Auttukari Mochai Curry.
The vegetarians also had a fare treat, as the green side of the table had Adai, Kuzhi Paniyaram, Appam, Idiappam, Vellai Appam, Cheittinad Kal Dosai, Ragi Dosai, Kambu Dosai, Vazhai Poo Vada, Kaikari Pirattal, Pakoda Kuzhambu and Mushroom Chettinad.
The festival had sweets such as Jack Fruit Kesari, Pal Kozhukattai, Elaneer Payasam and Carrot Halva.
