TIRUNELVELI: The "faltering minority Government" led by M. Karunanidhi will not complete its full term, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief Vaiko said here on Wednesday. A change of government in the State was imminent by this year-end.

Speaking at a marriage function here, Mr. Vaiko said the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led Democratic People's Alliance lost "by a hair's breadth." He criticised Mr. Karunanidhi for not inviting the Congress to join the Government "though he earlier told that he was prepared to head a coalition government." He also criticised the DMK president for not opposing the hike in fuel prices.

"When the DPA leaders took to the streets on June 12 to oppose the price revision, Chennai witnessed unprecedented crowds since the protest enjoyed public support. However, a Communist Party of India (Marxist) MP was assaulted when he and his party functionaries staged a road roko. I condemn the attack on the MP."
