Qmax, an automated test equipment manufacturing company, has established a Centre of Excellence in Automated Test Engineering in the VIT University, Vellore. S.R. Sabapathi, Founder, Director and CEO of Qmax, inaugurated the centre recently in the presence of G. Viswanathan, Chancellor of VIT University.
According to a release, research and development and training for students in the field of automated test engineering are the objectives of the facility, which has been set up at the VIT’s School of Electrical Engineering. VIT and Qmax would train electronics engineers and research scientists in the above field, which is gaining importance in the country owing to the establishment of world-class electronics manufacturing facilities by multi-national companies.
Mr. Viswanathan said that the centre would help students to get exposed to hands-on training in the emerging test technologies and automated test systems. Courses on test engineering and design for testability are at present being offered as theory and practical sessions as part of the standard curriculum for students.
This centre is expected to bridge the gap between the theories and the actual industrial requirements. Students would gain in-depth knowledge on test engineering, which would enhance employability skills. It would help them get placements in sectors such as Defence, aerospace and various public sector companies and MNCs in the area of electronics manufacturing services.
