The entrance test for admission to various courses at the Central University in Tiruvarur for the year 2011-12 will be held here and at other places in the country on June 18 and 19.

University sources said that in Tamil Nadu, entrance tests will be held at Tiruvarur, Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore and at 30 other places in the country. Students can write these examinations in any one of the places for admission into the seven Central Universities in the country- in Tamil Nadu (Tiruvarur), Bihar, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kashmir and Kerala.

Applications are being distributed from May 5 at these Universities. The Central University at Tiruvarur offers five year integrated post graduate courses in (M.Sc) in Life Sciences, Economics, Maths, Physics and Chemistry. An intake of thirty students for each of these courses is announced. It also offers two years post graduate course in (M.A.) in English and Classical Tamil. Thirty students each are admitted in these courses. It also offers M.Sc, two years course in financial economics and general economics.

The University is at present functioning from a State government building at the collectorate. It will soon move to its own campus coming up near Tiruvarur town.
