The All India Association of Central Excise Gazetted Executive Officers, Coimbatore Unit, has urged the Commissioner of Police, A.K. Viswanathan, to withdraw a case of criminal intimidation filed recently against a Central Excise Intelligence Officer. In a statement issued here, association general secretary M. Ramachandran said that the case was filed against R. Manimohan, Senior Intelligence Officer, Directorate General of Central Excise Intelligence, by M. Satish, a resident of Tuticorin, who was summoned to Coimbatore by the officials. Mr. Ramachandran said that the summons issued under Section 14 of the Central Excise Act, 1944, was a deemed judicial proceeding within the Sections 193 and 228 of IPC.
