: Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau of the CBI on Tuesday night laid a trap and caught K. Sakthi, Deputy Director in the Ministry of Shipping, “red-handed” while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a contractor.

According to the CBI, the complainant had approached Mr. Sakthi, Deputy Director in Directorate of Light Houses and Lightships, Chennai, for issue of contract and payment for additional works carried out by him.

Based on a complaint that the official demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000, a case was registered by the ACB and a trap laid. The sleuths caught the official while accepting the bribe. He was produced before the Principal Special Judge for CBI cases, who remanded him in judicial custody.
