: Cauvery College for Women has retained the overall BDU-Fest trophy of Bharathidasan University for the second consecutive year.
Bagging the rolling shields in competitions conducted under literary, fine arts, music and theatre segments, the college team notched up 84 points to cement its numero uno position in BDU-Fest 2012.
At the valedictory session of the three-day inter-collegiate cultural convergence on Sunday, the team received the overall trophy from the chief guest, actor Delhi Ganesh, in the presence of Vice-Chancellor K. Meena, Registrar S. Aruchamy and other dignitaries.
Earning 56 points, Shrimati Indira Gandhi College emerged second. The college team shared the honour of winning the rolling shield for theatre events with the victorious team. The event attracted 1110 students – 611 girls and 499 boys – from 42 colleges: seven government colleges, 10 government aided colleges, 18 self-financing colleges, and seven constituent and model colleges. Members of 19 college teams took part in all the 28 events. Twenty one new revolving cups were instituted this year.
