The District Police on Monday, arrested Shanmugaiah Pandian, founder leader of Thevarkula Koottamaippu, and five others on charges of making objectionable speeches and inciting people to create law and order problem. District Superintendent of Police N M Mylvahanan said Pandian, along with five of his accomplices had been visiting villages in Kadaladi and Mudukulathur areas since early Monday morning and inciting people after recalling the murder of three people on Thevar Jayanthi day on October 30.

They were arrested under section 153A of Indian Penal Code (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race..and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of law and order) and 7(1)(a) of Criminal Amendment Act (with intent to cause any person to abstain from doing or to do any act…obstructs or uses violence to or intimidates such person..).
