SALEM: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-corruption personnel seized money that had been collected illegally from handloom weavers’ co-operative societies, in the office of the Deputy Director of Handlooms and Textiles and also arrested an official on Thursday night.
Sources said the personnel led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Panneerselvam conducted a raid in the office following complaints.
They found a sum of Rs. 2.08 lakh from the office and seized the cash.
Head clerk in the office V. Rajmohan was arrested.
Further investigation is on in the case.
