Some unidentified persons allegedly entered the house of A. Pandian at Anupparpalayam here and decamped with Rs. 1 lakh and two sovereign jewellery.

Police said the burglars gained entry by breaking open the front door of the house while Pandian, who runs a canteen, and his family was away on Monday night.

Snatching

In another incident, two motorcycle riders snatched the chain worn by K. Saraswathy while she was walking along Agraharam street in Kangeyam. The Kangeyam police are investigating.

Stolen

Abdul Kutbudin (53), a resident of Kombaithottam here, was relieved of six sovereign jewellery and Rs. 50,000 in cash on Monday late night.

The incident took place when he stopped his motorbike along Mangalam-Palladam road to attend the nature's call.

One youth approached him and diverted his attention to some currency notes lying on the ground.

When Kutbudin was trying to pick up those notes, the accused took away the jewellery and cash kept on the petrol tank cover of the bike and fled from the scene.
