The police have registered cases against three party activists of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam including the candidate for Kanyakumari Lok Sabha constituency, D.John Thangam, on Friday.

According to the police, D.John Thangam and other party activists were campaigning at Pechipparai and the surrounding areas. As there was no hotel, they took lunch in the house of an AIADMK activist at Thirunanthikarai near Kulasekaram on Wednesday.

As conducting a feast was against the model code of conduct, the flying squad rushed to the house and told them that the Election Commission had prohibited it. The flying squad then tried to shoot a video. The AIADMK cadres not only objected to it, but also used unparliamentary words against the officials.

Revenue Inspector Bharathi lodged a complaint with the Kulasekaram police in this connection.

Based on the complaint, the police have registered cases against the AIADMK candidate, party’s election in-charge Tamilmakan Hussein and union secretary of Tiruvattar Jeya Sudarshan under IPC 294 (B), 353 and 506 (1).

Further investigation is going on.
