Police have registered a case against four teachers who were caught watching pornography on the school computer. The case is with the Crime Investigation Department.

Cases were booked against Jude Anbazhagan, N. Sivakumar, M. Abdul Malik and A. Rashid Mohammed, teachers at a government high school in Arumparthapuram following a direction from the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). They were booked for watching pornography on school computers, forcing children to watch pornography and molestation under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, the Indian Penal Code, especially Section 354A (IV) and the Information Technology Act, Deputy Inspector General of Police I.D. Shukla told The Hindu .

The case was brought to the police by chairperson of the CWC Vidyaa Ramkumar on Wednesday. After analysis, it was decided that the case be handled by the CID. There is also a woman Inspector attached to the case, Mr. Shukla said.

“Director-General of Police P. Kamraj has also instructed the investigating officers to take strict action against the offenders and a thorough investigation will take place in the matter,” he said.

The issue was brought before the Child Welfare Committee by the Parent Teachers Association. Previously, the Education Department had suspended the four teachers and conducting an inquiry.
