Police have registered case against 35 students of St. John’s College, Palayamkottai, who indulged in violence on the campus a couple of days ago.

Police said a group of students damaged the furniture, glass panes, doors and windows and also toppled the official car of principal Maraikumar Chellaraj, who in his complaint had stated that the college suffered damage to the tune of Rs. 2.50 lakh in the violence.

The principal had also alleged that the students had issued death threat to him.

Based on a complaint, the Palayamkottai police registered a case against 35 students, including 20 identified culprits, under various sections including Section 506 Part II of Indian Penal Code (issuing death threat).

The hunt is on to nab the accused students.
