The district police have dropped the case of dowry harassment filed by a 27-year-old woman from Coimbatore against seven persons, including former Minister Pon. Muthuramalingam of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, after the complainant reached a compromise with her in-laws.

The woman had complained that Mr. Muthuramalingam, who had arranged for the marriage, was reportedly taking sides with the family of her husband that was demanding more dowry. The All Women Police Station at Tirupparankundram had filed the complaint.

Superintendent of Police V. Balakrishnan said that the woman withdrew her complaint after she reached a compromise with her in-laws.
