ERODE: After five days of strike, 2,000-odd carpet weavers resumed work on Saturday. They went on strike demanding wage hike for 10,000-odd private weavers.

A negotiation was conducted before Labour Inspector C. Thangavel after which one group of weavers resumed work on Thursday. Once again, a talk was arranged and the remaining weavers also ended their strike.

Carpet unit owners said production worth over Rs. 1 crore was affected in Bhavani, Kuruppanaickkenpalayam, Thalawaipet, Jambai and its surrounding areas.
