Alleging harassment by the police and protesting the collection of spot fine, cargo autorickshaw drivers submitted petition to Commissioner of Police Karuna Sagar on Monday.

The cargo autorickshaw drivers said that though they were following all traffic regulations and abiding by the orders of the city police, they were being harassed by the law-enforcers after the spot fine system was introduced recently. Apart from registering cases against them, spot fines were being collected from the cargo autorickshaw drivers.

Hence the Commissioner should instruct his subordinate officers to impose fine only for the violations while safeguarding the law-abiding autorickshaw drivers, they said.
