As part of its Diamond Jubilee Year celebrations – 2012, the Seshasayee Institute of Technology (SIT) organised a day-long workshop on ‘Career Guidance and Soft Skills Development' recently, under the aegis of its National Service Scheme wing.

Sixty students from other polytechnic colleges joined 100 students from the host institution to benefit from the lecture sessions handled by experts. A. Sri Hari, Joint Vice-President – HR, spoke on ‘industry expectation from fresh diploma engineers', and laid emphasis on attributes like learning attitude, honesty, responsibility, and punctuality.

Speaking on ‘higher education avenues', P. Saravanan, Training and Placement Officer, Jayaram College of Engineering and Technology, oriented students on examinations such as UPSC, CAT, and JEE.

V.G.Chandramohan, Assistant Professor, Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, Sathiyamangalam, in his talk on ‘resume writing and interview techniques' elaborated on the ways of writing detailed resume, dress code, and language skills.

S.Mekala, Assistant Professor, National Institute of Technology – Tiruchi, delivered a lecture on communication skills: learning, speaking, reading, writing and thinking.

The students were given participation certificates in the presence of the Vice-Principal and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, N. Raju.
