The driver of an MLA's car was arrested on Wednesday by the Koyambedu police on the charge of assault.

According to police sources, Elangovan (32) of Ramavaram, car driver of DMK MLA A. Rajendran (Panamarathupatti constituency), was returning to Chennai after dropping the legislator at Salem, when his car collided with another car.

Following a heated argument, Elangovan allegedly assaulted Vinod Kumar (39) of Vanagaram, driver of the other vehicle. Based on a complaint, the police arrested Elangovan, sources said.
