The open pedestrian path at Tiruchi Railway Junction will soon have a canopy benefitting rail travellers proceeding to the station.
Realising the difficulty faced by travellers especially during rains in reaching the Tiruchi Junction, the divisional railway authorities decided to provide a cover to the pedestrian pathway adjoining the station's approach road.
Accordingly, funds to the tune of Rs.13 lakh was sanctioned under the passenger amenities scheme to carry out the roofing work. The pedestrian path will have galvanised iron sheet roofing to a total length of 150 metres, say railway officials here. The roofing work which commenced recently is expected to be completed in the early part of November. The covered pathway will be of great help to travellers proceeding to the station as well as to those going towards the bus stand from the junction.
