: The Madurai division of Insurance Corporation Employees’ Union campaigned for women’s rights through a candlelight ceremony near Jansi Rani Park here on Thursday on the eve of International Women’s Day celebrations.
The members of LIC working women’s sub committee organised the event, wherein at least 100 employees of the LIC converged and raised slogans to end violence against women. To mark the 103{+r}{+d}International Women’s Day, the participants pledged and passed a resolution to ensure 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament. The recommendations of the Varma committee should be implemented, they emphasised.
