Candidates in rural constituencies of Tiruchi district have been forced to slog hard to reach the masses in the run-up to the elections.
Most of them have taken to door-to-door and hamlet-to-hamlet campaign. But very often they are unable to meet voters, especially the working class, who are out on the fields/workplaces during most part of the day.
Though the harvest season is over, many agricultural workers are working in groundnut fields.
Mow, some of the candidates trek the extra mile to meet voters right on the fields and their workplaces.
This in a way also makes for an advantage, as the candidates are able to meet voters in groups.
The searing heat is one limiting factor, especially in a vast constituency such as Marungapuri; but it is a Hobson's choice for the candidates.
