Coimbatore: The sleuths of the Crime Branch CID on Wednesday filed an application before the Madras High Court and Erode District Sessions Court seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to former minister N.K.K.P. Raja in the Perundurai land grab case and an assault case registered by the Kanchikoil police in Erode district.

Mr. Raja, who had been in the eye of controversy, for quite some time, was recently stripped of his ministership, then the party’s district secretary post and finally expelled from the party.

He was arrested by the Erode police on Tuesday on charges of using abusive language and intimidating Bhavanisagar MLA O. Subramanian over phone on Monday.

He was produced before the Gobichettipalayam Magistrate who remanded him to judicial custody at Coimbatore Central Prison on Tuesday.

Mr. Raja was arrested within a few days of his return to Erode town after his bail conditions were relaxed by the Erode District Sessions court.

The CB-CID had cited the violation of bail conditions by Mr. Raja as the ground for seeking cancellation of the anticipatory bail.
